ANTIGUA & BARBUDA – Antigua and Barbuda is now providing universal free education, from early childhood through to university.

Education Minister Daryll Matthew is describing the move as historic, saying it removes financial barriers that could prevent students from accessing education.

Matthew says the policy is a deliberate decision by the Gaston Browne administration to ensure that finances and resources are no longer a limitation to education.

The initiative includes examination fees for certain subjects administered by the Caribbean Examinations Council (CXC), as well as tuition fees at the University of the West Indies five islands campus.
