CARIFTA Trials

The country’s best are in the capital for CARIFTA trials and some of them have already made the cut.

Keyezra Thomas is headed in the girls U-17 400m and the high jump.

Alexandrea Komolafe also qualified in the high jump.

Terrell McCoy qualified in the girls U-12 shotput.

Erin Barr and A’karee Roberts qualified in the girls U-20 1500 meters, Zion Shepherd in the U-20 400m, and Shemar Davis and Bernard Kemp qualified in the U-20 high jump.

Action continues this evening and tomorrow beginning at 3 p.m.

Basketball

Conference tournaments started this week.

Wisconsin’s AJ Storr went off in the Big Ten Tournament quarterfinals against northwestern, going for 30 points, a career-high and a conference tournament record. He also grabbed six rebounds and his Badgers put the Wildcats away, 70-61.

Sammy Hunter also came up big, helping his team win the MAC Tournament.

He had 14 points and 3 rebounds as his Akron Zips beat the Ohio Bobcats in a barnburner 65-62.
