NASSAU, BAHAMAS – The slow season is here and many hotels and resorts are struggling to put heads in beds.

And as we approach September, Executive Vice President for the Atlantis Paradise Island Resort says they too are feeling the brunt of it.

The difficult time – part of the reason the resort closed it’s Coral Towers doors on August 17th, the time is also usually used to carry out repairs.

But what about the workers left without jobs?

Last month, Bahamas Hotel, Catering and Allied Workers Union President Darrin Woods told me they’re doing all they can to limit income-loss – many of them taking vacation up to eight weeks.

Roberts says a plan was always in place.

“We are in final stages are with the document with the Chinese ExIm Bank, the  final document. It’s presently at the AG’s office going through the necessary assessments.”
