NASSAU , BAHAMAS – Bats, cobwebs and ghostly figurines that make you look twice — Atlantis Paradise Island is getting into the Halloween spirit.

Throughout October, the Atlantis resort is transforming its spaces, from the Coral Lobby to the Royal Towers, into a spooky playground for guests of all ages.

And the celebrations kick off with a night of frights, fashion and festive fun at Aura Nightclub’s annual Auraween.

The event is strictly for the 18-and-older crowd, with the costume contest expected to be one of the biggest highlights of the night.

Atlantis Director of Programming and Activities Jacinda Knowles says the event is popular among locals.

“Traditionally, we do it the weekend before Halloween, which gives everyone an opportunity to make the most of their week. And definitely, we see a lot of local support. We’re really excited to see all of the costumes that come through the Royal front door into Aura.”

But it’s not just the grown-ups getting in on the Halloween action.

The resort is also planning a weekend full of family-friendly fun, including pumpkin carving, trick-or-treating, ice cream specials and its signature spooky attractions.

“For the kids, most of our events are going to take place on Halloween weekend. So we start out October 30 with our Cave of Horrors. We are bringing that back, so if you’ve seen it in years gone by, you want to bring them out. It’s for ages six and up, and it’s going to be at the Predator Tunnel in The Coral.”

And the older kids won’t be left out of the fun.

Pre-teens and teenagers can get in on the action at Club Crush, which is bringing back its Fright Night Reloaded costume party on Saturday, October 31.

With DJ Primetime providing the musical entertainment, partygoers can also enjoy arcade games and video gaming as part of the experience.

“Club Crush Fright Night. We are bringing back Fright Night Reloaded this year.”

From costumes and cocktails to candy and creepy caves, Halloween at Atlantis has become an annual tradition for many guests.

And with so much happening across the resort, we asked Knowles why Halloween continues to be such a big part of the Atlantis experience.

Her answer was simple.

“It’s an opportunity to kind of relax, enjoy yourself, be someone else for the day or the night.”
