NASSAU, BAHAMAS – The Academy for Women Entrepreneurs also known as AWE is a U.S Department of State Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs initiative supporting women entrepreneurs around the world.

Last evening at the newly renovated U.S Ambassadors Residence more than a hundred women who have completed the program gathered for a reception in honor of their accomplishment.

Throughout the night we received remarks from the embassy’s partners, the Access Accelerator Small Business Development Center and the Women Investment Group.

Past alum members like Kerel Pinder, Bodine Johnson, and myself were recognized for our commitment to national and community building. Certificates of completion were then given to the last cohort that participated in the program.

Suemayah Abu-Douleh, Public Affairs Officer for the United States Embassy in Nassau, shared with us the plans the embassy has to diversify this program. They intend to offer the program in the Family Islands.

The program is offered in most of the CARICOM countries. With that said, plans are underway for a regional summit right here in The Bahamas.
