DENVER, COLORADO, USA – Bahamian big man Deandre Ayton’s Phoenix Suns lost the opening game of their 2nd round matchup to the Denver Nuggets 125-107.

Ayton had 14 points on 7 of 11 shooting along with 7 boards and 2 blocks while Kevin Durant had 29 points, 14 rebounds and 3 blocks. Devin Booker added 27 points and 8 assists.

Even their best effort couldn’t withstand a Denver squad at full health with two-time MVP Nikola Jokic who had 24 points and 19 rebounds.

Nuggets guard Jamal Murray had a monster of a game scoring 35 points, grabbing five rebounds and dishing nine assists.

For the Suns to have a chance in this series, Ayton is going to have to drastically improve his effort on the boards and on defense.

The next game in the series is on Monday.
