Bahamians Face Off in The NBA

PORTLAND, OREGON – A pair of Bahamian NBA players who played in the national team faced off in the Pacific Northwest last night as Deandre Ayton and the Portland Trailblazers squared off against Eric Gordon and the Phoenix Suns last night.

Ayton and the Blazers got the better of the matchup, winning 109-104. Ayton had an active night against his former team, scoring 16 points on a less-than-optimal 6-18 shooting, however, he was fully engaged on the boards, grabbing 16 rebounds. He also dished out 3 assists.

Gordon had an off-night for the Suns, scoring only 5 points on 1 of 7 shooting, his loan field goal attempt coming from three-point range.

The win snaps an astounding four-game Blazers losing streak where Ayton’s play could be best described as lackadaisical. Gordon and the Suns, however, were on a two-game winning streak.

Ayton and the Blazers, who are now 7-19 on the season have a chance to pick up a second consecutive win on Thursday night when they play the Wizards, who are in the midst of a similarly lost season with a 4-22 record.

Gordon and the 14-12 Suns have a tough matchup on Friday night when they take on the Sacramento Kings.
