GRAND BAHAMA, BAHAMAS – Imagine wearing the beauty that represents the islands of The Bahamas in custom-made jewelry. One entrepreneur has been making that a reality for the past 23 years.

What started as a way to create standout jewelry for herself turned into a flourishing business with multiple stores across two islands.

CEO and designer of Baha Gala Jewelry, Tanisha Carey, says her custom work led to her first wedding commission more than two decades ago, and the rest, as they say, is history.

What makes Carey’s pieces so unique is that she makes 100 percent of the jewelry herself.

When it comes to inspiration, Carey says it is the sights and materials found right in nature that get her creativity flowing.

With 23 years under her belt already, Carey admits the journey has not been the easiest, but says she has learned many lessons along the way.

Carey says she is extremely proud of her growth over the years. One of her stores is now located at the new Celebration Key cruise port.
