NASSAU, BAHAMAS – The Bahamas will donate more than half a million dollars to the countries slammed by Hurricane Beryl earlier this month. The Disaster Risk Management Authority confirming the donation and revealing how it will help.

Weeks after Hurricane Beryl caused unprecedented devastation across four Caribbean countries The Bahamas is assisting.

The Disaster Risk Management Authority telling us the government is processing a monetary donation for St. Vincent and The Grenadines, Grenada, Jamaica, and Barbados.

As it stands, DRM Managing Director Aarone Sargent says the financial aid could be up to $600k.

Those countries could get the funds in the next few days, In less than 48 hours Beryl grew into a disastrous major hurricane, tearing through those Caribbean Islands.

The storm left hundreds powerless, hundreds more homeless and many more structures damaged.

It also made history as the earliest hurricane to reach Category 5 intensity in the Atlantic ocean.

This catastrophic start to the hurricane season leaves many to wonder what lies in storm for the remainder of the season. Sargent says the DRM has already started planning in the event we find ourselves in a familiar position.

Fortunately, Sargent says should a hurricane come these new methods will be available.
