NASSAU, BAHAMAS – A bloody Sunday night in the capital, three men shot and two shot fatally in separate incidents just hours apart.

These latest acts of violence push the homicide count to 16 for the year, leaving shock and sadness in those communities.

The cries of relatives echoed through Munson Village Sunday as they grappled with the painful reality that their loved one was gunned down just off Boyd Road in Chippingham, becoming the country’s 15th homicide for the year.

Police first alerted media to the incident around 7 p.m., initially reporting the victim was alive, but later confirming his death.

Police press liason, Chief Superintendent Sheria King spoke on the scene.

A family member, who chose to remain anonymous, identified the victim as 20-year-old Jayden Henfield and just hours later, police alerting Our News to another shooting around 11 p.m., this time in Kennedy Subdivision just in front of the community park.

Officers say shot-spotter technology alerted investigators who discovered the man with a gunshot wound to the upper body.

Police could not say whether both incidents were related but are making this appeal.

Sheria King stated, “If persons have any information about this matter, to call police at 919, 911, CID at 502-9991, or anyone of their local police station as I said East Street South was right in this area on Wednesday so we’re appealing to the community to reach out.”
