Bahamian Referees Assigned to Nations League Matches

TURKS & CAICOS – Bahamian referees Evens Julmis and Prince Albury are getting set for two CONCACAF Nations League C assignments in Turks and Caicos this month.

The two FIFA-listed officials will be part of the officiating crew for matches involving Montserrat, the British Virgin Islands and Turks and Caicos, with the league C group stage kicking off September 23. 

The first match is September 23, when Turks and Caicos host Montserrat, followed by Montserrat against the British Virgin Islands on September 26 – both at the TCIFA National Academy in Providenciales. 

Julmis is a FIFA referee, while Albury is a FIFA assistant referee, continuing their representation of The Bahamas on the international stage. 

The 2026-27 Nations League C features nine teams, with the three group winners and best second-place team advancing to a new League C Championship. 

Meanwhile, with two international assignments coming their way, Julmis and Albury will have another opportunity to put Bahamian officiating on the CONCACAF stage.

Walcott Takes Next Step Toward the Big Leagues

Bahamian baseball star Sebastian Walcott just got his first taste of Triple-A baseball, and now the big question is, what’s next?

After Double-A Frisco’s season ended, the Texas Rangers promoted their top prospect to Triple-A Round Rock for the final two games of the minor-league season. 

Walcott went 2-8 with a walk and a stolen base, highlighted by his first Triple-A hit, which comes after Walcott returned from elbow surgery in July, hitting .329 with 10 home runs, 21 RBI’s and 12 stolen bases in just 39 regular-season games.

Now, the Rangers have a decision to make for the offseason, they could give Walcott more work in the Arizona Fall League or Dominican Winter League, or allow the 20-year-old to rest and continue his rehabilitation. 

The expectation is that Walcott will start 2027 in Triple-A, but a strong spring training could put him in the conversation for a major-league call-up later in the season. 

Jones, Anadolu Efes Capture VTB SuperCup

Kai Jones and Anadolu Efes have started the new season with a trophy, defeating Lokomotiv Kuban 88-82 on Sunday to win the VTB SuperCup.

Jones played just over 20 minutes in the final, going a perfect three-for-three from the field for 6 points, while adding 6 rebounds, one assist, one steal and two blocks.

The Bahamian big man was also highly efficient throughout the tournament, averaging 7 points, 6.3 rebounds and 1.3 assists over three games.

Jones opened the tournament with 11 points and 8 rebounds on five-for-five shooting in a 100-76 win over Zenit, then had 5 points and 5 rebounds in the semi-final win over Unics Kazan.

The title also marks a piece of history for Efes, as the Turkish club became the first non-Russian team to win the VTB SuperCup.

Now, the focus shifts to the regular season, with Efes opening Turkish League play September 27 against Besiktas.

Then comes the big one – the EuroLeague season opener September 24 at Barcelona, followed by Efes’ home EuroLeague opener against real Madrid on September 29.

After a strong start to year two, Jones and Efes now get their first test on Europe’s biggest club basketball stage.
