Bahamians Get Set for American Association of Professional Baseball Postseason

U.S.A. – Prepare to be more locked into Indy baseball than you’ve ever been in your entire life. 

With all the Bahamians playing in the American Association of Professional Baseball postseason, there’s a chance this becomes our national pastime – at least for a week.

The regular season concluded Monday with D’shawn Knowles, Tahnaj Thomas and the Sioux City Explorers finishing the standings as the top team in the West Division while Chavez Young, Daunte Stuart and the Lake Country Dockhounds are the top team in the East division.

Knowles concluded the regular season winning the league’s “Batter of the Month” award for August with a .388 average, six home runs and 27 RBI.

Knowles added a two-run homer Monday to his total in a 12-8 win over the Winnepeg Goldeye. 

Thomas was recently traded to the X’s from the Milwaukee Milkmen on August 22nd.

Sioux City will take 64-36 record into the postseason and will play game one of the West Division series against the Sioux Falls Canaries on Wednesday.

Over in the East for the Dockhounds, Young has appeared in just 24 games since joining the club and is hitting .198 with nine rbi, two home-runs, and seven stolen bases.

Stuart’s first season with the club has him in the running for rookie-of-the-year hitting .301 this season with 48 runs, 6 home runs, 44 RBIs, and 23 stolen bases.

The Dockhounds won the east at 55-45 and will open the series against the Chicago Dogs on Wednesday.

Minor League Baseball

Ryan Reckley was healthy for a full season, became a walking highlight reel all over the field all season long – and earned a promotion for the San Francisco Giants.

The Eugene Emeralds are headed to the northwest championship series, so naturally they called in Reckley for reinforcements.

Over the course of the last month with the San Jose Giants in low-a, Reckley was hitting .259 with a .394 on base percentage.

The Emeralds, finished the regular season with the best record in the league at 75–51,

Reckley has been on the move several times this season, after beginning the year with the acl Giants in rookie ball where he hit .306 in 14 games before being promoted to low-a.

He spent 43 games with the San Jose Giants before the recent call to Eugene.

For his 2025 season across all levels, Reckley has compiled a .198 batting average with one home run, 15 RBI, 7 stolen bases and an ops of .585 in 182 at-bats .

Boxing

Bahamian boxing wants to be back so bad they will go all the way to Sint Maarteen to find fights – seriously, they really did.

Representing the All-Out Boxing Club sanctioned by the Bahamas World Boxing Federation, Team Bahamas made a powerful statement at the 2025 Battle of The Islands tournament with three gold medals and two silver medals from just four fighters. 

Anai Powell won gold with a majority decision victory.

Jahmal Smalls Jr and Keano Cox both won via walkover after their opponents withdrew.

Colon Smith fought through a draining weIght cut and engaged in a tough three-round battle and dropped a close decision to earn silver.

The tournament brought together boxers from several Caribbean nations, including Antigua and Barbuda, The Bahamas, Cayman Islands, Curaçao, st. Kitts and Nevis, and Sint Maarten.
