TOKYO – Bahamians took to the track in Tokyo as the 2025 World Athletics Championships continued for day two of competition.

In the women’s 100m hurdles, Devynne Charlton delivered a standout performance, finishing second in her heat with a time of 12.69 seconds to secure a spot in the semifinals.

Her compatriots Charisma Taylor and Denisha Cartwright were eliminated in their heats, finishing sixth and seventh with times of 12.96 and 13.50 seconds, respectively.

In the women’s 100m, Anthaya Charlton and Camille Rutherford were also unable to advance, each finishing fifth in their heats with times of 11.18 and 11.40 seconds, falling just short of moving on to the next round.

Meanwhile, in Major League Baseball, New York Yankees’ second baseman Jazz Chisholm is just one home run away from joining the exclusive 30–30 club.

Chisholm hit his 29th home run of the season last night, helping the Yankees secure a 5–3 win over the Boston Red Sox. His solo shot came in the fifth inning, giving the team a 4–0 lead. He also drove in runs with a single in the first inning and another in the previous inning.

If Chisholm reaches the 30–30 milestone, he will become only the third player in Yankees history to do so, joining Bobby Bonds (1975) and Alfonso Soriano (2002, 2003). With just two weeks left in the season, the odds appear in his favor.
