BARBADOS – Barbados may soon join several CARICOM countries considering an agreement with the United States to accept third-country refugees.

The Barbados government signaling it is open to the possibility, even though officials say Washington has not yet formally approached Bridgetown.

Foreign Affairs Minister Kerrie Symonds says he would expect Barbados to be included, as other regional governments move ahead.

Antigua and Barbuda, Dominica, Saint Lucia, and Saint Kitts and Nevis have confirmed signing on, while Guyana says talks are still ongoing.

The discussions come as the Trump administration recently expanded travel restrictions to 20 additional countries effective January 1st.
