NASSAU, BAHAMAS – A barber found with $259,000 worth of marijuana in his bedroom has been jailed for 18 months.

Demetrius Woodside’s sentence will be extended by nine months if he does not pay a $15,000 fine.

Woodside, 50, pleaded guilty to conspiracy to possess dangerous drugs and drug possession with intent to supply during his trial before Magistrate Samuel McKinney.

Police got a search warrant for Woodside’s home at Chou Close, off McKinney Drive, after they found trace amount of marijuana when they stopped and his son, Dominic Woodside’s, car in Montell Heights on September 30, 2019.

The officers found seven crocus sacks containing marijuana when they searched Woodside’s room.

Following  the discovery, Woodside said, “Officers that is mine. That’s about 300 pounds. My son doesn’t know anything about this.”

However, the officers arrested and charged Woodside and his son.

As a result of Woodside’s plea, the prosecution withdrew the case against Dominic Woodside.
