GRAND BAHAMA, BAHAMAS – Women in men’s basketball something that nowadays is a norm but for over 20 years Bonnie Basden has used the game to touch lives and steer young men in the right direction.

A staple in the Grand Bahama sports community for decades, Basden volunteered as coach of the Sunland Baptist senior mens basketball team but for her it goes beyond the court.

And with the state of crime in the country, Basden believes programs like hers are key in changing young men’s lives.

The process however was not as easy.

Now mostly limited to a wheelchair and medical machinery due to health reasons, Basden says it hasn’t kept her from enjoying the game she loves.
