NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Two weeks after an early morning blaze devastated several north Bimini homes, residents on the northern island are still recovering.

Bimini resident and fire victim, Pastor Oral Ellis says since the massive fire, he’s been living in accommodations at the government’s expense for two weeks, however he’s now providing his own short term accommodations.

As for what’s next he says he’s still waiting on answers.

Social Services Minister and Member of Parliament for West Grand Bahama and Bimini Obie Wilchcombe told reporters Wednesday that the ministry is taking active steps such as formulating reports to repair those homes and return residents to some sense of normalcy.

As for the clean up efforts on the island, Pastor Ellis says the area has been completely cleaned of debris, to which the residents are extremely grateful.
