NASSAU, BAHAMAS – “Tis the Season to Sparkle” was the theme for this year’s Bahamas National Trust Christmas Jollification, one of the organization’s biggest annual fundraisers and a beloved holiday kickoff for residents across New Providence.

For years, hundreds of cars have filled the area around The Retreat on Village Road as locals and visitors flock to the event. After wondering why Jollification draws such massive crowds every year, Our News decided to find out.

Executive Director Lakeshia Anderson-Rolle says the answer is simple: people come for the vibes, the food and the connection the event provides.

“Every weekend I have a few friend groups who come out on both Saturday and Sunday,” she said. “Once they’re in, they give me a call and I partner with them, visit all the liquor sponsors and enjoy some of those great holiday cocktails.”

With that in mind, Our News joined in the fun to experience the magic firsthand, starting with a cocktail from Jimmy’s Wines & Spirits. Business analyst Alegura Armbrister proudly explained their signature offering.

“We’re the only margarita booth out here,” she said. “I believe you’re having our spicy margarita, made with ghost tequila and blanco tequila.”

Next on the list was finding a friend group to hang out with, and that mission was quickly accomplished with a lively group ready to cheer and enjoy the festivities.

And of course, no Jollification experience is complete without sampling the food. Among the standout vendors was Vell Monkey Foot, where Lacianne Martin introduced one of their newest dishes.

“This year we brought out for the first time our Oxtail Bao Bun and our Jerk Chicken Bao Bun,” she shared, serving up dishes that drew long lines throughout the day.

In the midst of the fun, a familiar face appeared: Our News Senior Producer Kendeno Knowles, who reminded us that beyond the music, drinks and laughter, the event supports an important cause.

“Our News has been partnered with the BNT since 2023,” he said. “That partnership has allowed us to shine a spotlight on conservation and the work BNT is doing.”

Jollification continues to stand as one of the most anticipated holiday events in The Bahamas, blending cultural celebration, community fellowship and environmental awareness in one festive weekend.
