NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Free National Movement Leader Michael Pintard charging that increased electricity rates by BPL is against the law.

In a statement, Pintard said a recent release from URCA stated that after a comprehensive review of the recent BPL fuel charge increase and billing tiers, it was satisfied that BPL made an adequate case for the rate increase.

Pintard calls the hike unconscionable, adding that it’s a result of the government’s failure to take advice on the BPL hedging program.

Pintard says the FNM believes the move was in violation of the electricity act.
