NASSAU, BAHAMAS – The BPL employee, who made the rounds on social media for defending himself while on duty, is telling his story. He says the incident took him by surprise and is cautioning his fellow BPL employees to avoid conflict at all costs.

Gabriel Gordon works in the Credit and Collections Department at BPL.

He says during a routine work order, something unusual happened. He says he was met by a couple. Gordan says he continued his work when the husband who was seen in the viral photo appeared.

This incident occurred on Paradise Island and the man in the photo was fined and ordered to leave the country.

The longtime BPL employee says the incident took him by surprise, adding that this never happened before.

Gordan says in addition to working out, he’s been training in martial arts for 23 years.

He had this bit of advice for fellow coworkers who may end up in a similar situation: Avoid conflict.
