NASSAU, BAHAMAS – A generation unit at Bahamas Power and Light’s Eleuthera power station failed this past Friday, leaving residents in a generation deficit.

In a statement BPL said the issue was exacerbated by the temporary loss of another unit at the Rock Sound power station the following day causing widespread outages across North and South Eleuthera.

Central and South Eleuthera Member of Parliament Clay Sweeting says he’s hoping to meet with BPL today on the matter.

The BPL statement noted that specialists were flown in on Sunday to repair the Hatchet Bay and Rock Sound units.

Sweeting says the issues are affecting everyone.
