NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Negotiations between the government and The Bahamas Public Services Union are expected to wrap up this week.

Government’s Lead Negotiator Bernard Evans told reporters yesterday a counterproposal was submitted to the union. He also said salary increases for public servants, already at minimum wage, are being considered.

A few weeks back, BPSU President Kimsley Ferguson appealed for an increase as Financial Secretary Simon Wilson revealed a possible 2023 recession.

Given the rising cost of living, Evans admitted the increases aren’t enough.
