BRAZIL- Bahamian point guard Domnick Bridgewater made an impressive debut for Brazilian club Pinheiros, scoring 18 points to help lead his new team to a 75-63 victory over Ceisc/União Corinthians in the Novo Basquete Brasil on Tuesday night.
Bridgewater played 25 minutes in his first appearance, shooting two-for-seven from two-point range, two-for-six from beyond the arc and six-for-nine at the free-throw line.
He also contributed five rebounds, two assists and a steal.
Fellow Bahamian David Nesbitt also saw action, finishing with four points and three rebounds in just over 23 minutes. Nesbitt shot two-for-seven from two-point range and missed both of his three-point attempts.
Pinheiros built an early advantage, leading 35-23 at halftime, and held off a second-half push to secure the 12-point win at the Poliesportivo Henrique Villaboim in São Paulo.
The victory was Pinheiros’ second straight in the 2026-27 NBB campaign, following a 98-63 win over Fortaleza last week.
Bridgewater’s scoring output provides an encouraging start to his Brazilian professional stint, with both Bahamians looking to help Pinheiros build on its early-season momentum.
Through his first three games, Nesbitt is averaging 16 points and three rebounds per game.

Michael Major Jr. is putting together an impressive fall campaign for Howard University, with a 15-6 overall record that includes a run to the MEAC men’s singles final at the Fall Invitational.
What makes his recent run particularly significant is the level of competition he has beaten.
Major has recorded wins over three opponents with Universal Tennis Ratings above 12, a measure of playing level that helps compare players across different competitions.
He defeated South Carolina State’s Iliyas Maratuly, rated 12.20 UTR, in three sets, 7-5, 5-7, 6-4. He then beat Norfolk State’s Szymon Malecki, rated 12.15, in straight sets, 7-5, 6-4, before edging Hampton’s Rafael Padilha, rated 12.05, in a match tiebreak, 6-4, 2-6, 11-9.
Major is not just building his record against lower-rated opposition. He is producing results against players with strong UTR ratings, showing he can compete at a high level within the MEAC.
The senior now looks to carry that form into the spring season and build on a fall campaign that has put him on the radar.

Team Bahamas has recorded its first victory at the inaugural FIFA Under-15 World Cup and Festival in Baku, Azerbaijan.
The team defeated American Samoa 6-0 as the young Bahamian side continues in Tier F of the tournament’s reclassification stage.
The win marks an important moment for The Bahamas in a competition that has brought together 189 FIFA member associations, making it one of the largest international youth football events ever staged.
The inaugural tournament, which runs through October 30, was created to give under-15 players from countries of all sizes an opportunity to experience international competition, develop their skills and measure themselves against players from different footballing cultures.
The competition features an eight-a-side format, with two 20-minute halves, rolling substitutions and smaller pitches adapted to the developmental needs of young players.
During the initial qualification stage, teams play four to five round-robin matches. Their results determine their placement into one of six performance tiers for the second stage, with each tier crowning its own winner. The Tier A champion will be recognised as the overall FIFA U-15 World Cup and Festival winner.
Unlike a traditional World Cup, the format does not eliminate teams through a conventional knockout bracket. Instead, every participating nation is guaranteed additional matches through the final day, providing valuable international experience for developing players.
