U.S.A.- After a few off nights – one that included the end of their winning streak – Buddy Hield was back on track and so were his Golden State Warriors.
Hield scored 15 points and shot 4-6 from three point range in the warriors’ 104-93 win over the Milwaukee Bucks Tuesday night at the Chase Center in San Francisco.
The Warriors improved to 5-1 on their current seven-game home stand.
With 13 games remaining in the regular season, Golden State is 40-39, sixth in the standings of the Western Conference playoff race.
The Warriors’ home stand concludes Thursday night against the Toronto Raptors.
NJCAA Basketball
The madness isn’t only limited to the NCAA, Bahamians are looking to have an impact in the Junior College Men’s Basketball Championship.
Brent Moss and 14th ranked Barton Community College Cougars received an at-large bid and the 9th seed for the 2025 NJCAA Division I National Tournament.
The defending national champion Cougars will take a 25-8 record into the tournament’s second day of action, opening play at noon Sunday, March 23, against Atlantic District Champion and 24th seeded Brunswick Community College.
In 32 games this season, moss has averaged 16.9 points and 10.2 rebounds per game – both team leads.
Former national team standout Willis Mackey Jr is an assistant coach on the staff for Chipola College.
Seeded number 13, Chipola will face the 20th seed Monroe University in the first-round matchup – March 22, at 6:30 pm.
Chipola earned an at-large bid after they finished the season at 24-7 with four wins against ranked opponents.
Chipola has won two consecutive conference championships and has now made four consecutive appearances in the njcaa tournament.
Track & Field
For the third consecutive year, genesis academy can claim the top track and field program in the Bahamas Scholastic Athletic Association.
Genesis led the field with 916.50 points to finish first. Teleos Christian was second with 820.50 points, Akhepran International was third with 751, Kingsway Academy was fourth with 557 points and Noble Prep rounded out the top five with 520 points.
Genesis finished second in the senior division with 529.50 points and second among juniors with 355 points.
Teleos scored 668.50 points to win the senior division, while Kingsway won the juniors with 512 points.
Basketball
Jonquel Jones made her much anticipated season debut for the most dominant team in the Women’s Chinese Basketball Association.
Jones averaged 10.6 points per game in limited minutes to help Sichaun to a three game sweep over Jiangsu in The quarterfinals.
In game one she scored nine points in an 87-63 win, game two it was 12 points and eight rebounds in a 100-70 Win and in the series finale, 11 points and five rebounds in a 96-57 win.
Sichuan will go on to face shanxi in the semifinals.
