NASSAU, BAHAMAS – A 41-year-old bus driver has been acquitted of raping a 15-year-old runaway in 2023.

Prosecutors alleged that Anton Thompson, raped the teen at an unoccupied home in the Carmichael Road area on November 18.

The jury brought back a majority 7 to 1 not-guilty verdict.

Thompson had picked up the alleged victim and her teenage friend as a favour to the friend’s mother.

While riding with the minors, Thompson stopped at the home.

According to him, he went there to steal parts from an out of use bus.

The girls alleged that he took them inside the home, where he had them perform oral sex on each other before he raped the 15-year-old girl.

Thompson denied the allegations at his trial before Justice Dale Fitzpatrick.

He said the alleged victim told him that her parents had put her out, and that she looked older than her age.
