NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Obie Wilchcombe’s colleagues say they were shocked and saddened by the news.

They all spoke highly of the veteran politician pointing out his willingness to pass on knowledge, and words of encouragement as a senior politician.

I spoke to several government officials paying their respect to the late Obie Wilchcombe.

Labour and the Public Service Minister Pia Glover-Rolle telling reporters she’s worked with Winchcombe within the PLP for more than a decade.

She spoke to his mission of passing on the baton to the younger generation.

Meanwhile, Energy and Transport Minister JoBeth Coleby-Davis says she was shocked and saddened by the news which she says threw off her morning.

She remembers him as a modern-day historian who constantly reminded them of their duty to serve the Bahamian people.

National Security Minister Wayne Munroe said he got word from the commissioner of police this morning.

Munroe says he was always dependable.

They were all asked what they believed Wilchombe’s legacy would be.
