NASSAU, BAHAMAS – In just over six months, Bahamas National Trust Executive Director Eric Carey will step down from the post he has held for nearly two decades.

In this report from our Jasmin Brown, Carey explains what prompted his decision.

Eric Carey has been the public face of the Bahamas National Trust, never shying away from addressing environmental issues head on.

But last month, the Bahamas National Trust announced that Carey will step down as executive director on December 31, 2022.

As for what he would like to see his the next BNT executive director take on, Carey says, “Continue to build the relationship, the trust with the government. At the same time be prepared to engage the government in difficult conversations.”

While Carey’s departure is still months away the BNT council has said it initiated a formal process to identify a new executive director.
