EAST GRAND BAHAMA, BAHAMAS – A multimillion-dollar Carnival Cruise Line port is set for Grand Bahama, anticipated to bring one million visitors a year.

President of Carnival Cruise Lines Christine Duffy celebrating the groundbreaking for the new port, as the company celebrates its 50th anniversary.

Prime Minister Phillip Davis telling stakeholders Grand Bahama’s economy is on the way up and the magic is returning to the city.

Davis says Carnival’s cruise port is playing a pivotal role in the island’s revitalization.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Tourism Chester Cooper says 1,000 jobs and hundreds of opportunities are coming to the island.

Thirty percent of the 329 acres of land purchased by Carnival will be preserved, according to Duffy.

Multiple ships are expected to call into the new port weekly, bringing in over a million passengers annually.
