“We are welcoming the entire Bahamas. You can even come from the Family Islands if you want to. We want the entire Bahamas to converge on our brewery site, Clifton Pier, the birthplace of it all.”

That’s Commonwealth Brewery Limited’s Corporate Affairs and Sustainability Manager, Arnette Ingraham, who says the “Ultimate Bahamian Brewing Festival” will give the public an opportunity to experience the company’s brands and celebrate its 40-year milestone.

Ingraham says the company, which began operations in 1986, has built its business on Bahamian ingenuity, while drawing on its Heineken heritage.

The event takes place this Saturday, October 3, from noon until 8 p.m. and will feature a wide range of brands from the company’s portfolio, including VitaMalt, Guinness, Ricardo Rum and Kalik, along with other offerings.

And to drive activity to the festival, all of Commonwealth Brewery Limited’s retail operations will close on Saturday, with activities moving to the company’s hub.

“Well, what a way to force people down there. Yes, that’s how we get you down there. But guess what? When you come and celebrate with us, it’s going to be a unique experience. You come through the gates, your first two drinks are on us.”

Entry to the festival is free, and food vendors will be on site with delicious menu items available for purchase.

And for those looking to enjoy more than the two free drinks included with admission, organizers say nostalgic price specials will be available throughout the event.

“Beers, two for five. Mixed drinks, five dollars. Where could you get mixed drinks for five dollars? I ain’t see that from 2010.”

“Exactly.”

While distance may be a concern for some guests, Ingraham says there’s a plan for that as well.
