NASSAU, BAHAMAS – The 2023 Junior Junkanoo parade officially in the history books. Thirteen schools, including two community groups, hitting Bay Street, Thursday night for a fun, yet competitive return.

Bay Street coming alive once again for the return of cowbells, goatskin drums and colorful costumes. After a two-year hiatus, Minister of Youth, Sports and Culture, Mario Bowleg, and Education Minister, Glenys Hanna Martin, both say they were excited to see the little darlings express themselves through this cultural art.

Ministry of Youth, Sports and Culture Junkanoo Coordinator Ellery Deveaux said there were some hiccups, including import challenges and date changes.

But, once the green light was given, the schools and community groups sprung into action. Junior Junkanooers bringing out their best choreography, costumes, music and banners.

When the votes were tallied, one on one claimed first prize for the pre-school division.
