NASSAU, BAHAMAS – New York Yankees second baseman Jazz Chisholm Jr. is spending part of his offseason back home and made sure to pour into the next generation of local talent. Over the weekend, he stopped by his foundation’s Little League program at the Baillou Hills Complex, where he signed autographs, took photos, and spent time with young athletes he proudly called “the future of baseball in The Bahamas.”

Meanwhile, on the hardwood, The Bahamas men’s national basketball team put up a strong fight in Toronto despite being shorthanded and dealing with a quick turnaround in cold conditions. The fifth-ranked Canadian squad pulled away late to secure a 94–88 victory.

Garvin Clarke led the way for Team Bahamas with a standout double-double of 20 points and 13 assists. Dominick Bridgewater added 18 points and six assists, Isaiah Mobley chipped in 16, Rashad Davis scored 15, and Kino Burrows contributed 12 points, seven rebounds, and five assists.

The team now turns its attention to Window Two in February, where they’ll face Jamaica and Puerto Rico on the road.

Thanksgiving weekend was also a big one for Bahamian women’s basketball players competing at the collegiate level. Veronaye Charlton recorded her first Division I double-double with Austin Peay, posting 19 points, 10 rebounds and five assists in a 66–46 win over Kansas City.

FIU stars Rhema Collins and Denika Lightbourne helped lead the Panthers to an undefeated championship run in the program’s Thanksgiving Classic. Collins averaged 17.7 points and 9.7 rebounds across the tournament, while Lightbourne added 12.7 points per game in the title performance.
