Chisholm broke out of his slump at the plate, helping the Yankees take a 6-3 win over the Cleveland Guardians last night at Yankee Stadium.

He doubled to lead off the sixth inning, bringing an end to an 0-11 stretch at the plate and a three-game hitless streak.

The series now shifts to Progressive Field in Cleveland for Game 3 tomorrow afternoon at 5:08 p.m. Clarke Schmidt will take the mound for the Yankees, while the Guardians are expected to counter with Matthew Boyd.


Ole Miss Rebels ranked in AP preseason poll

The Associated Press released its NCAA women’s basketball preseason poll, and the Ole Miss Rebels were ranked in the top 25.

Head coach Yolett McPhee-McCuin and sophomore wing Rhema Collins lead the team into the 2024-25 season with a No. 20 ranking.

This marks the second consecutive year and the 18th time in school history that the Rebels have earned preseason honors from the Associated Press.

Last season’s team set a school record with 12 SEC wins and notched its third straight NCAA tournament appearance.

The SEC remains one of the toughest conferences in women’s college basketball, with Ole Miss among seven teams featured in the preseason top 25.

Bahamian fans will have a chance to watch the Rebels in action at the Baha Mar Women’s Championship from November 25-27.


Team Bahamas falls short in Nations League

Team Bahamas missed an opportunity to advance to the CONCACAF Nations League play-in after a 6-2 loss to Barbados last night in Bridgetown.

Brandon Adderley and Michael Massey were goal scorers for The Bahamas.

This game marked the conclusion of the group stage in League C. Barbados finished first in the group with 12 points, earning promotion to League B. The Bahamas placed second with four points, but the loss denied them a place in the Nations League play-in.


Long Island Sailing Club Mini Regatta results

The Long Island Sailing Club Mini Regatta, a spin-off of the second-largest Family Island regatta, featured top sloops in both the C and E classes.

In the C class, Xena took first place, followed by the Sassy Sue, Miss Rowie, Sacrifice in fourth, and Ma Laura rounding out the top five.

In the E class, Lady Annmarie was the overall winner, followed by the Blue Marlin, Lil Brooke, and the Captain Peg.


Buddy Hield’s preseason performance

In NBA preseason action, Buddy Hield continues to work his way into the rotation for the Golden State Warriors.

Hield scored 10 points off the bench in the Warriors’ 111-97 win over the Los Angeles Lakers.

Golden State remains undefeated in the preseason at 5-0, with Hield averaging 11.8 points in just over 17 minutes per game.
