COI Leader, Supporters Arraigned for Unlawful Assembly and Obstruction

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Fringe political party leader Lincoln Bain and eight of his supporters appeared in court on Thursday facing charges that stem from the October 19 protest outside Parliament. 

Bain, Rakino Seymour, George Griffin, Travis Bodie, Mario Bain, Charlotte Green and Conroy Ingraham are accused of unlawful assembly and obstruction.

Prosecutors allege that while assembled at Parliament Square they conducted themselves in a manner that caused others to fear that they would disturb the peace tumultuously.

They are also accused of obstructing Members of Parliament from accessing the House of Assembly.

Seymour is further charged with assaulting Inspector N Davis while assisting arrest and behaving in a disorderly manner.

Ingraham is accused of assaulting Superintendent Styles while resisting arrest.

Also, Leonardo Sands is accused of assaulting Woman Corporal 3856 Murray.

Cara Ellis is accused of obstructing ACP B K Bonamy while in the execution of his duties and disorderly behavior.

They pleaded not guilty.

Magistrate Samuel McKinney  granted each defendant $1,500 bail with one or two sureties and set a December 1 trial date.

Maria Daxon, Donna Dorsett-Major and Glendon Rolle represent the accused.
