However, one Bahamian woman took the challenge head on, initiating a solution centered on flights between The Bahamas and Trinidad & Tobago.

TRINIDAD & TOBAGO – The Caribbean Airlines flight departing from Nassau and arriving in Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago, required a total duration of five hours and forty minutes, with a single intermediate stop in Kingston, Jamaica.

It is considered a significant innovation within regional aviation, as it effectively provides direct service from The Bahamas to the dual-island Caribbean nation.

The start of the flight is connected to a Bahamian diplomat – Consul General for The Bahamas to Trinidad and Tobago, Dr. Elaine Monica Davis.

“I was working at University of the West Indies at the time and there were a lot of students who wanted to go home and vote, and generally speaking when they’re going home to book their flight, and even for myself, I always thought why do I have to fly over The Bahamas and come back from Miami to The Bahamas to get home.”

During that period, she held the position of honorary consul, recalling engaging in discussions with relevant officials regarding the matter and obtaining their approval.

Subsequently, she presented the proposal to the airline’s executive manager Alicia Cabrera in 2013, who she indicates demonstrated considerable enthusiasm for the initiative.
