NASSAU, BAHAMAS – The Royal Bahamas Defense Force activated an isolation exercise after 11 defense force officers tested positive for COVID-19 at its base in Inagua.

The Public Hospital’s Authority released a statement revealing one of the officers had recently traveled with a group of 22 people when he began experiencing symptoms of COVID-19.

He and 10 others in the group tested positive. While he has symptoms, the others are all asymptomatic.

RBDF Commodore Dr. Raymond King says the statement represents the organization’s position on the matter.

The PHA statement also notes that symptomatic people who test positive using the rapid antigen test and are unvaccinated should be isolated.

Symptomatic persons who test positive for covid-19 and are vaccinated should confirm through a PCR test performed for diagnostic purposes.

The ministry is also reiterating there is no lockdown in place or planned by the Ministry of Health & Wellness in Inagua or anywhere else in The Bahamas.
