CUBA – Cuba is strongly condemning a new U.S. memorandum tightening travel and financial restrictions against the island.

The move signed by President Donald Trump during his first week back in office reinforces a long-standing ban on American tourism and imposes stricter rules on travel-related transactions.

On Tuesday the Cuban foreign ministry called the policy “criminal” and a violation of human rights.

According to the White House, the memo is a continuation of a 2017 policy.

For decades, the U.N. has urged the U.S. to end its economic blockade, which Cuba blames for major damage to its economy.
