CUBA – Cuba is struggling to recover tonight, weeks after Hurricane Melissa tore through the Eastern provinces, damaging 149,000 homes, destroying 158,000 hectares of crops and affecting more than 1.3 million people.

Officials say aid has poured in from 27 countries, including food shipments from China.

The United Nations is supporting schools with supplies and temporary classrooms, while Pan American Health Organization reports mass evacuations and severe hits to water, power, and sanitation.
