CURAÇAO – Curaçao was officially welcomed as the sixth associate member of CARICOM, announced at the 47th regular meeting of CARICOM Heads of Government in Grenada.

Secretary-General Carla Barnett and Prime Minister Gilmar Pisas highlighted Curaçao’s commitment to regional integration. Pisas emphasized that Curaçao’s Caribbean identity and strategic location will enhance trade and economic cooperation.

The nation is already negotiating trade agreements with the Dominican Republic and Trinidad and Tobago, aiming to support CARICOM initiatives in renewable energy, digital technology, and sustainable development.
