NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Unpaid salaries have led some workers from the Ministry Of Health’s Contact Tracing Unit to quit. Health And Wellness Minister Dr. Michael Darville says the issue is a priority.

Jasmin Brown reports.

Minister of Health Dr. Michael Darville confirming the situation at the Contact Tracing Unit isn’t exactly ideal due to the fact that a number of contact tracers have not been paid, and it has been leading some of them to quit.

Dr. Darville says the problem at the Contact Tracing Unit was inherited from the Minnis Administration.

Dr. Darville says it is vital that the issue be addressed, particularly as the government seeks to increase accessibility to covid testing.

While he says he did not know the exact number of people awaiting payment, he insists the government will get the money to pay those who are owed and hire more contact tracers to beef up the unit.
