NEW YORK – Police say fingerprints from Luigi Mangione, the man accused of killing UnitedHealth CEO Brian Thompson, match prints found on items near the Manhattan crime scene.

Sources tell ABC News the prints, recovered from a water bottle and cellphone, were smudged but linked to Mangione, who was arrested Monday in Altoona, Pennsylvania.

Detectives are reviewing a spiral notebook reportedly found with Mangione that outlines plans to kill Thompson, calling it a potential confession.

The 26 year old resisted police and shouted accusations against the system during his Tuesday extradition hearing. Authorities are investigating whether he had help before or after the December 4 shooting.
