NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Olympian and world champion Devynne Charlton spoke about the competition she brought for her annual invitational track meet. The event features athletes from under-6 divisions through adults in the open division, drawing competitors from across The Bahamas and other countries.

Charlton said the main goal of the meet is development and exposure. She also shared that she is feeling ready for her upcoming season and is looking ahead to the World Championships.


Bahamians in action: basketball roundup

Klay Thompson scored 19 points off the bench, including four 3-pointers, but his Dallas Mavericks fell 138-125 to the San Antonio Spurs, powered by Stefon Castle’s 40-point, 12-rebound, 12-assist performance.

VJ Edgecombe finished with five points on 2-of-4 shooting as his Philadelphia 76ers defeated the Phoenix Suns 100-92. Joel Embiid led the way with 33 points and nine rebounds.

Buddy Hield recorded a DNP and did not play in the Atlanta Hawks’ 126-119 loss to the Charlotte Hornets.

In college action, Florida International University needed all 15 points from Rhema Collins to edge Middle Tennessee 60-58. Collins also had six rebounds, while Denika Lightbourne contributed eight points off the bench.

Deyton Albury scored nine points, but his New Mexico Lobos fell 91-90 to Boise State.

Antonecia Moultrie added four points off the bench in the University of Ohio’s 84-76 loss to Old Dominion.
