NASSAU, BAHAMAS – With Division I college baseball headed to The Bahamas next spring, the country’s sports tourism product is set to expand once again – and the event could open doors for the next generation of local baseball talent.

Atlantis Paradise Island has teamed up with BDG Sports to host the first-ever NCAA Division I baseball series on Bahamian soil. BDG Sports, already known for bringing major events like college basketball tournaments and Korn Ferry Tour golf to the islands, is now adding baseball to its growing portfolio.

Penn State will take on Indiana State from February 27 through March 1 at the Andre Rodgers National Baseball Stadium, marking a historic moment for the sport in the region.

Bahamian Players Shine Despite Team Losses

Bahamian NBA players were busy on Wednesday night, delivering strong performances even as their teams came up short.

In the East, VJ Edgecombe posted an impressive stat line with 21 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists, 3 steals and 2 blocks in the Philadelphia 76ers’ 121–112 loss to the surging Toronto Raptors.

Buddy Hield and the shorthanded Golden State Warriors also suffered a setback, falling 110–96 to the Miami Heat. With the rotation thinned, Hield made the most of his minutes, scoring 18 points in just over 30 minutes, both season highs.

In Dallas, Klay Thompson and the Mavericks narrowly missed out on a win in a 113–111 loss to the New York Knicks. Thompson contributed 13 points on 5-of-11 shooting, including three shots from beyond the arc.

Knowles Makes Winter League Debut in Puerto Rico

Bahamian outfielder D’Shawn Knowles continues to build his professional baseball résumé, this time making his debut in Puerto Rico’s top winter league.

Knowles joined the Leones de Ponce of the Roberto Clemente Professional Baseball League, and he made an immediate impact. In a 3–0 win over the Senadores de San Juan earlier this week, he went 2-for-2, scored a run and reached base four times.

Knowles signed with Ponce after a strong summer season with Sioux City in the American Association of Professional Baseball, adding another chapter to his growing career.
