NASSAU, THE BAHAMAS – The family and friends of Melvin Henfield, widely recognized as DJ Fresh International, were visibly distraught as they gathered on Saturday at Faith United Missionary Baptist Church to bid their final farewells.

DJ Fresh was one of the ten victims who tragically lost their lives in the devastating independence day plane crash on July 10th.

Now, several weeks later, his family is finally laying him to rest.

“To know Melvin was to love him. From the moment I received the news that my best friend was gone my life changed I never imagined I would have to say goodbye to you so suddenly.”

The black casket remained shut, embellished with fuchsia pink details.

This detail added a pop of color to a funeral service not solely held as a moment for grief, but also an opportunity to honor the vibrant legacy of the disc jockey.

The speakers during the program found it challenging to maintain their composure; however, one fact was evident: he will forever be remembered for his artistic contributions, loyalty, and charisma.

“Melvin taught me and all of us lessons in his own special way. Some lessons came through music that he played. Some through life and some simply through the experience we shared together.”

“Some of my favorite memories him goes back to when I started track and field. Yes I use to do track and field back in two thousand and seven. And you always could spot Melvin on the track why cause he had the prettiest run. “

“Melvin thank you for being my friend my brother and such an unforgettable part of my life. We are loved and you are deeply missed”
