DOMINICAN REPUBLIC – The Dominican Republic government announced Monday it will extend the border wall with Haiti by 10 to 12 kilometers, bringing its total length to about 176 kilometers.

President Luis Abinader said the decision comes after local ranchers in the area praised the current 34-kilometer section for cutting livestock and vehicle theft by 80%.

The Dominican Republic says the extension will be put out to bid and is funded under a multi-year budget covering parts of this year and 2026.
