NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Five Downtown buildings were demolished in the last year, according to Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Tourism Chester Cooper.

This is all in an effort to revitalize the Downtown area.

Cooper says the buildings were demolished as the property owners were non-compliant.

Those complaints Cooper said came from residents and guests.

Cooper says officials are confident that the development and opening of the Nassau Cruise Port will drive some much needed energy into the area.

In the long term, Cooper says there has to be sustained investment in the Downtown area.
