NASSAU, BAHAMAS – The Davis administration is considering lifting the COVID-19 test requirement for entry into the country. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Tourism, Aviation and Investment Chester Cooper says it’s up for discussion in Cabinet, Tuesday.

The United States government recently announced that it will drop the requirement for travelers coming to the United States by air to test negative for COVID-19 before departure.

Cooper says the Davis administration has to balance what’s good for the economy and what’s good for the health of the Bahamian.

Cooper also warning that impediments to get to The Bahamas could be a concern for some visitors and even returning residents.

The Deputy Prime Minister also says he expects a decision to be made within a week, while Health and Wellness Minister Dr. Michael Darville says the decision will be based on several factors.
