Edgecombe Looks Ahead to Star-Studded Sixers Squad

UNITED STATES – VJ Edgecombe is preparing for his second NBA season, where he will return to a Philadelphia 76ers team that looks very different from the one he left.

Edgecombe had an impressive rookie campaign, starting all 75 games and averaging 16 points, 5.6 rebounds, 4.2 assists and 1.4 steals per game.

The number three overall pick also made history in his NBA debut, scoring 34 points against Boston, the most ever by a Sixers player in his NBA debut, before going on to win Rising Stars MVP, earn All-Rookie Honors and finish third in Rookie of the Year voting.

Now, the expectations are different.

Philadelphia added five-time All-Star Jaylen Brown in a blockbuster trade with Boston, then landed four-time NBA champion, and all-time scoring leader LeBron James in free agency.

That gives the Sixers a starting group featuring Joel Embiid, Tyrese Maxey, Brown, James and Edgecombe, and suddenly, the conversation in Philadelphia isn’t just about developing a young star, it’s about winning a championship.

For Edgecombe, year two will be about learning how to make his impact alongside some of the biggest names in the game while taking another step toward becoming one of the NBA’s next stars.

Knowles Caps Season With Batter of the Week Honors

The Sioux City Explorers finished the 2026 season one game short of the American Association of Professional Baseball Playoffs, but the season ended on a high note for two Bahamian players.

D’Shawn Knowles was named the American Association’s Carbliss batter of the week after going 13-for-28, a .464 average, with three home runs, 13 RBI, 13 runs scored and four stolen bases over the final week of the season.

Knowles finished the season with a .325 batting average, a .413 on-base percentage, a .509 slugging percentage, seven home runs, 45 RBI and 33 stolen bases in 64 games.

He also moved into seventh place on the Explorers’ All-Time Stolen Bases List with 91 career steals.

Tahnaj Thomas also wrapped up his season in the Explorers bullpen, finishing 3-2 with two saves, a 4.70 ERA and 27 strikeouts over 30-and-two-thirds innings.

The Explorers finished 49-51, just one game out of the playoffs, with Knowles and Thomas providing key contributions throughout the season.
