NASSAU, BAHAMAS – For seven years they – the Essence Band – have been bringing you wonderful music and greater vibes.

This past week the Essence Band celebrated their anniversary.

Essence celebrated their anniversary in grand style; the band had a sold-out concert at the Andre Rodgers Baseball stadium.

I had the opportunity to reflect with them on their anniversary and the seven year journey at their Humble Den Studio.

Smith, who serves as the lead vocalist got emotional during our interviews. She says part of their success is attributed to making everyone feel part of their shows.

Jermaine also shared what his experience was like at their concert on Friday.

“Just the whole, before even stepping on stage, the whole back scene, the prayer as well to feeling the excitement when people miss and saw us walking by, I kind of felt prepared – like look what we have been able to achieve, look at the people, our people respond,” he said.

So what does the future look like beyond 7?

“Our future looks like just a bunch of thriving artists cause we are a conglomerate,” Victor said.

“Essence isn’t one person or one name. It’s literally just everyone working together towards a common goal.”

Jermaine had an additional view of the future.

“Honestly it’s hard to tell,” he said. “Success… But in which way? It’s still yet to be determined.”
