Antoan Richardson and the Atlanta Braves are heading to the National League Division Series.

It is Richardson’s first season as the Braves’ first base and baserunning coach, and he helped steward the club to the NLDS with a 6-2 win over the Philadelphia Phillies in Game Three of the Wild Card round last night at Truist Park.

All season long, Braves players have praised Richardson’s attention to pitcher tendencies, his passion and his emphasis on smarter baserunning, while manager Walt Weiss has also pointed to his energy and accountability.

The Braves will face the Los Angeles Dodgers in the NLDS, with Game One set for Saturday in Los Angeles.

NBA

VJ Edgecombe is getting his first taste of playing alongside one of his childhood basketball icons, but the Bahamian guard says the starstruck feeling has to go once the ball goes up.

After the 76ers’ first practice of training camp, Edgecombe described LeBron James as both his teammate and his brother.

He admitted seeing LeBron in the Sixers locker room still feels different, but on the court, they have a job to do.

Edgecombe said the two even had a miscommunication on a defensive switch during practice, the kind of mistake that comes with building chemistry on a new-look Sixers team.

With LeBron, Jaylen Brown, Joel Embiid, Tyrese Maxey and Edgecombe in the mix, that chemistry will be one of Philadelphia’s biggest early storylines.
