NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Dozens of family members, friends and team members of Jayden Pinder gathered on Long Wharf Beach for a candle light vigil on Saturday January 3rd. Jayden passed away on Boxing Day 2025 due to a jet ski accident. Now the accident did not happen on this beach his aunt said they could not bare to return to the scene of the incident but they want to memorialize Jaiden in an environment he loved.

“He loved the waters he he loved sailing he was proud to be a boat captain he loved going on the jet skis he loved fishing he loved all things water” – Jaiden’s Aunt

That is Devera Pinder, Jayden’s aunt. Jayden was also the grandson of Bishop Carrington Pinder and a former junior baseball player.

On December 26th, 2025, tragedy struck the Pinder family when Jayden lost his life in a jet ski accident on West Bay Street.

Pinder says when she received the call from her sister saying Jayden had been in an accident, she thought he may have suffered injuries but never imagined he had died.

“When she said accident I like oh he gone be fine everything is going to be alright but in that moment seeing my sister cry for her only child was hard that was the hardest thing I think I have ever experienced in my life”

And while the family mourns Jayden’s passing, they also celebrate his life.

Pinder said the vigil reflects Jayden’s personality. For 19 years, he was a light in their family and to everyone he met.

Her hope is that people remember him as the gentle giant he was.

“I would love for him to be remembered as a fun loving kind gentle giant because he was six foot seven but he was such a sweet person”
